Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensures safety is always prioritized
  • Provide support and direction for the operations team
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to the plant operators
  • Complete daily inspections and production reports
  • Conduct employee performance reviews – as required to determine competency, knowledge, skill and ability of the operators
  • Communicate regularly, respectfully with all operators, both individually and as a group, to ensure consistent production among crews
  • Ensure that operators are adequately trained, equipped and motivated, so that production objectives can be accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner
  • Issue disciplinary action when required – Verbal and written warnings. Must ensure the warning slip includes the employees signature
  • Ensures employees hours are corrected before the timesheets are sent in to payroll in order to ensure accuracy of the employees hours
Qualifications and Skills Requirement:

· Minimum of 5 – 10 years’ experience in milling operations related to manufacturing plant circuits

· Demonstrate current technical knowledge related to manufacturing circuits

· Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills

· Strong interpersonal, problem solving and written and verbal communication skills

· high level of computer literacy, and able to learn the payroll system (ADP)

Performs preventative maintenance and industrial mechanic duties in order to ensure that all machinery is functioning at full capacity at all times; applies all applicable safety precautions and performs duties in an efficient and profitable manner that promotes safety and superior employee relations.

Credentials:

  • Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Trade Certification;
  • Construction Millwright Trade Certification;
  • Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Red Seal Endorsement.

Specific Skills:

  • Repair or replace defective machinery parts;
  • Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions;
  • Installing machinery and equipment;
  • Assembling machinery and equipment (prior to installation);
  • Perform routine maintenance work on machinery;
  • Operate machining tools to fabricate parts;
  • Operate hoisting and lifting equipment;
  • Welding techniques: Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW); Flux core arc welding (FCAW); Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) (TIG); Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW); Gas metal arc welding (GMAW).

Additional Skills:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications

The General Labourer performs day-to-day mill duties in an efficient and profitable manner that promotes safety and superior quality.

Credentials:

  • Must have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team;
  • Forklift Operator License, Confined Space and Fall Arrest Training would be considered assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Filling out reports properly;
  • Proper markings on bundles;
  • Must be accountable for production;
  • Responsible for general work area housekeeping;
  • Must report all accidents/problems to supervisor;
  • Assist maintenance on all break downs;
  • Responsible for writing work requests for electrical and mechanical repairs;
  • Ability to maintain production demands as required;
  • Must have full knowledge of companies safety and lock-out procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Work under pressure;
  • Physically fit;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Bending, crouching, kneeling;
  • Must be available to work shift work.

These requirements need to be met to represent knowledge, skill and/or ability to perform job functions.

Student may work in the drying operation, the core composers, lift, the patchers and clean-up between 11:00 pm Friday and 11:00 pm Sunday- which constitutes their work week.

Duties:

  • Start up and stop equipment;
  • Assist with production line;
  • Clean up;
  • Feed veneer through dryer or sort veneer in buggies;
  • Ensure conformance to specifications;
  • Record data;
  • Take instructions from supervisors;
  • Notify supervisor if problem occurs which they have not been trained to handle;
  • Must have full knowledge of company’s safety and lockout procedure;
  • Must attend production and safety meetings when scheduled;
  • Must report all accidents to supervisor;
  • Assist maintenance on break downs, PM’s during shift or as required;
  • Responsible for housekeeping around their work area;
  • Must record all down time;
  • Ability to maintain production demands as required;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Required to perform duties daytime, evenings, midnights, weekends, and holidays;
  • Must pass drug screening;
  • Must score 80 or better in structured interview.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Manual labour as required to perform daily job duties;
  • Ability to frequently stand for prolonged periods of time;
  • Ability to frequently bend, squat and reach;
  • Have ability to navigate stairs, heights, move and walk through cramped areas;
  • Required to perform duties beyond standard business hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays;
  • May be exposed to smoke, fumes or airborne particles.
